Cottage Kitchen Modernisation
The owners wanted to update their kitchen. They were keen to retain the character of their existing cosy cottage kitchen and re-use some of the old custom-made solid wood doors if possible
Phase 1 involved building a bespoke painted dresser unit, with a half-width glazed upper cabinet for display. This included touch-sensitive LED downlighters
Phase 2 took the best-condition existing solid wood doors from their old kitchen units, re-conditioned them, and built them into a “vintage-style dresser” unit with tongue-and-groove backboards and other historical detailing - as a counterpoint to their new painted dresser unit
Phase 3 addressed the remainder of the kitchen. New replacement doors were sourced from a national supplier. Where non-standard dimension doors were required, these were custom made at the workshop in a matching style to create a custom larder unit
A custom cabinet was created to hide the electrical consumer unit and to additionally provide a useful cubby for tea-making supplies
All the end panels, plinths, cornice, pelmet and doors were professionally sprayed in a custom soft green colour
The sink & tap were replaced with high-end units. These were complimented by new Mistral quartz worktops, upstands and windowsills
Simple, rustic tiles and a bespoke stained ash wooden shelf above the “Everhot” stove completed the look
