Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Many kitchens still have solid cabinet structures and workable layouts. In those situations a refresh, with new doors, work surfaces, appliances or better storage, can transform the room without the disruption of a full replacement. A design visit helps decide whether a refresh or a full redesign makes more sense.

How much does a kitchen project usually cost?

In Wiltshire, a kitchen refresh typically costs £15,000 to £20,000, a custom kitchen £20,000 to £30,000, and bespoke cabinetry £30,000 to £50,000 or more. In detail: Kitchen refresh: £15k–£20k Custom kitchen: £20k–£30k Bespoke cabinetry: £30k–£50k+

How long does a kitchen project take?

It depends on the scope. As a guide, a kitchen refresh is the quickest, a custom kitchen sits in the middle, and a bespoke kitchen takes longest because every cabinet is made from scratch in the Corsham workshop. These are guides only — your actual timescale will depend on availability, materials and the scope of work. Refresh projects: usually a couple of weeks from order to completion, with only a few days on site. Custom kitchens: typically around 8 weeks, including design, cabinetry lead time and installation. Bespoke kitchens: typically 12 weeks or more, because every cabinet is made from scratch in the workshop.

How disruptive is a kitchen renovation?

This is one of the biggest concerns people have. A full replacement can mean a few weeks without a fully working kitchen, although I work hard to keep that to a minimum. A refresh project is far less disruptive because much of the existing kitchen stays in place. If you are having a new sink and don't have a utility room, I can provide a temporary sink to tide you over, plumbed in, with hot and cold running water.

It depends on the room and how much design freedom you need. Custom kitchens combine high-quality cabinetry systems in a personalised way; bespoke kitchens are designed and built specifically for your space using cabinetmaking techniques. For many homes a custom kitchen strikes the right balance of flexibility and cost. Bespoke cabinetry comes into its own when the architecture or layout asks for something more individual.
